The storm drain system is designed to protect you from floods and enhance water resources, but the system can be abused by careless disposal of harmful chemicals, wash waters, and other substances.  It is illegal to release anything other than storm water and irrigation water to the storm drain system!

If you see someone using the storm drain system in the Fresno-Clovis area with illegal dumping, you may contact us immediately by phone during normal business hours at (559) 456-3292 or complete our COMPLAINT FORM, and we will respond by the next business day. We will visit the location, contact the responsible party and provide information about proper disposal. Your identity will be kept confidential, and will only be used to inform you of the outcome of our response.

If the incident is in progress and involves hazardous materials, please contact your city fire department, police, sheriff, or the County of Fresno Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team at (559) 445-3271 or 1-800-742-1011 between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Call 488-3111 after business hours.

Draining a Swimming Pool

Before you drain a swimming pool to the street, you must allow 24-48 hours after the last treatment for all chlorine to dissipate. Contact the District before you drain your pool at (559) 456-3292.
