The Water Safety Council of Fresno County was first established in 1982 by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors and Fresno City Council as the Water Safety Task force. Its purposes are the promotion of water safety education and awareness to prevent drowning injury and death, and legislative advocacy to promote water safety. The Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District is one of the founding members and ongoing sponsors. Visit to learn more. View the series of water safety videos posted on the Water Safety Council’s YouTube channel. Rivers, lakes, swimming pools, canals, and ponding basins are the bodies of water most of us come in contact with, and are the subjects of the 30-second water safety videos.
