Stop pollution before it starts: That is the message communicated consistently by the District’s Clean Stormwater Program commercials and advertisements. The idea is to let people in the Fresno/Clovis metro area know that the things they do at home everyday can either cause or prevent stormwater pollution. Shown here are elements of the newly revamped multi-media public awareness campaign.
The campaign runs from January 8 through March 31, 2018. You will hear radio commercials in English, Spanish, Hmong and Punjabi; see television commercials in English and Spanish; see locally targeted advertisements on popular websites and Facebook; large ads on Fresno Area Express buses; and even posters outside of convenience stores.
Pollutants focused on in the campaign are the usual culprits: used motor oil, pesticides, fertilizers, trash, and paint. All of these can be kept from making it into the gutter, and ultimately into the Fresno/Clovis area’s 153 stormwater basins and the San Joaquin River.
