Little Hoover Commission
District General Manager Alan Hofmann was invited to testify before the Little Hoover Commission at its October 27, 2016, public hearing on special districts. The Commission is an independent State oversight agency created to investigate government operations and promote efficiency, economy, and improved service. The hearing was a follow up to the 2000 Commission report titled “Special Districts: Relics of the Past or Resources for the Future?” The District was one of five agencies invited to provide testimony, and was asked to discuss its history, mission, revenue sources, infrastructure planning and development, how we work with other agencies, and particularly how we are responding to uncertainties presented by climate change.
The District is grateful for the chance to address the Little Hoover Commission. Mr. Hofmann took that opportunity to describe the range of critical services it provides for the people of Clovis and Fresno, its cost effective and efficient practices, and its regular collaboration with other public agencies.
