Community Services
The 2011 Clean Stormwater Grant awards were made by the FMFCD Board of Directors on March 23, 2011. More than $37,000 was awarded to 17 environmental education and stewardship projects, and to fund San Joaquin River field trips for 10, 5th grade classes. Read news release.
Clean Stormwater Grants establish District partnerships with community groups and local schools by funding, in whole or in part, projects that protect or enhance water resources or educate citizens about storm water quality.
The District also funds 5th grade field trips to Scout Island and Lost Lake. The grants fund transportation and docent fees for all 5th grade students at your school.

Storm Drain Stenciling
Signs saying, "No Dumping – Protect Your Water" painted on the curb at storm drain inlets are an effective way to be sure people do not pollute their water supplies. Any group with participants 9 years old or older can volunteer to stencil storm drains in their neighborhoods. The District will supply everything you need: – safety equipment, paint and stencils, instructions, and permission slips. Contact us for group leaders’ kits; click here for more information.
Presentations
The District has available staff and materials for presenting to many kinds of groups:
- PowerPoint shows adapted for community and business settings
- Videos about the local storm drain system and storm water pollution prevention
- Watershed models for student interactive lessons
- Training materials to assist businesses in storm water quality regulatory compliance
Contact us to request a presentation, or for more information.
