Mr. George Marcus

Mr. Marcus was born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Tuskegee University and his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Howard University.

Mr. Marcus moved to Fresno in 1959, where he began his pharmacy career with Thrifty Drug Stores in downtown Fresno. He is a local businessman with strong community ties, and owns Marcus Pharmacy and the West Fresno Shopping Center where it is located, as well as insurance and bail bonds businesses, and a Subway Sandwich shop.

Since coming to Fresno in 1959, Mr. Marcus has been very involved in the community through the Second Baptist Church, the Fresno County Civil Service Board, and the Valley Medical Center Advisory Board among many other groups.
